First Meeting
We finally met with our Study Buddy group for the semester from the other 3rd semester class and the 1st semester class. The reason behind having such a study group is to help each other both socially and academically.
The study group for this semester was a lot larger than the ones we had in the first semester. Like before we were given a presentation about the purpose of the group and some guiding questions we can all ask each other to get to know everyone better.
It was really funny because half of the 3 semesters are internationals so when we were explaining where we were from and it got to the local students it was just a laughing gig because they are like ‘well yes i am from exotic Odense’, a great way to start off the first meeting.
In terms of future meetings we agreed the discord would be the best for everyone and that we should already start brainstorming ideas of what to do together. Most of the group showed up with only 2 or 3 missing, but overall a fun time, especially over pizza and boardgames.
Second Meeting
We scheduled the second meeting to be held at the boardgame cafe after school. We said in good time that we were going to be holding the meeting there and it was even decided before a lot of people that a board game cafe would be good.
Sadly due to poor planning from others only a handful of us showed up, which was only the third semester from my class. Nevertheless it was very fun. We talked about how it was going with our exam project and played a fun game of crabs!
Third Meeting
In an even better time we scheduled an online meeting as our third semester was getting very stressed from the exam project and felt time constraints. Many of the group members showed up to the discord meeting with their cameras on. We discussed how their projects went and that their presentations went really well. They were also talking about the installation project they will be introduced to and asked what we did. We also exchanged our process portfolio to inspire and help the first semester.
It was really nice to hear what was going on on their end as well as other groups in the third semester. Though it was online I felt that the group as a whole gets along very well. It was also nice that one from the first semester sent us a questionnaire link for us to fill out as we are also there to help them!
Fourth Meeting
This day was to see the presentations and project installations of the first semester which I was quite excited for as they were working with the HCA Festival this year. However, the day before because of the snow, I slipped and my knee was really painful (I have knee problems) . I thought it would be best if I sit it out today than risk breaking my leg on the way to school with even worse snow weather.
Reflection
Overall I really enjoyed all the meetings. I wish we had better timing or slots to physically meet with the first semesters as they are very joyous and fun to be around. Though it was only a year ago it’s nice to know that if they have questions we can help them and if we need help with testing or something similar they can help too. I think the concept generally is very good, makes you speak up more and be more social.
In regards to the instagram take-over a short video was made. We all agreed it should center around the day of a life as a multimedia designer student. Rama had a very interesting pair of sunglasses with a built in camera, which gave it a perfect POV.
