As expected, any new student in a MMD education is learning how to use basic programmes such as Photoshop and Adobe After-effects. Today’s main goal with these two programmes was not only familiarise yourself with the basic functions but also create simple animations such as moving shapes and a wagging stop sign. I had little experience with the programmes however I can say that it was a big challenge.

Opening up Adobe after-effects scared me, so many buttons here and there, many commands, trying to figure out how to add new key frames. I wanted to give up at one point because it was too overwhelming, but I soon realised the more I played around with it the more I got used to the different functions but also learned how to do certain things. It might have taken me quite some time to figure out how to add keyframes maybe due to my lack of skills or my Danish comprehension, but I managed to overcome not knowing how to add them.

The more I played around and saw the purpose of each function the more comfortable I became using after effects. I managed by myself how to make the shapes look a little funky and silly, how to rotate, change positions, and other basic functions. I definitely underestimated how challenging it can be but what I learnt from learning something new is that it’s okay to take your time and play around with the programme because that’s one great way to learn how to use it.
